Do hacking groups like LulzSec,Anonymous realise the implications of targeting world organisations?

Personally i support the actions of Anonymous because i hate Scientology but soon enough the governments of large western country's will start to restrict the internet itself and this could lose certain aspects of freedom on the internet for the average user or even worse drive people to stupid company's like Apple due to fears for internet saftey.
